I Love Saturdays

treattrackers are very proud of their lovely friend Ria who has started her own business selling jewellery and antiques. Here's my first purchase - a beautiful pair of earrings to wear at Christmas time and an even more beautiful garnet necklace. I kept the docket as a souvenir!

Here's a picture of the Wooloongabba Antiques Centre, Wellington Road East Brisbane where you can find Ria's space inside.
I took an educated guess that this was Ria's space. It had a nice old pair of luminous rosary beads (remember those - used to be a must have!) and lots of garnets. I loved the toothpick holder. I hope I'm right about the cupboard, Ria.

treattrackers Danielle, Elizabeth, and Julie loved the old Chevrolet after they had had a lovely time sticking their hand under the doors of the antiques shop to pat the cute antique cats inside!

treattrackers Jule and David at Pearl cafe for brekky.

Surely you must be sisters! Wouldn't that be a nice thing for someone to say.

Danielle and Julie love the brekky at Pearl yet again for our start to the weekend.

Carpark Veggies

Wow! This is my latest purchase from the Veggie Man who delivers to our staff car park. We are 30 or more tired teachers and teacher aides on a Friday afternoon who certainly do not want to go shopping. I paid $35 for this lot! He also home delivers. Phone Danielle on 0418112106 or Chris on 0422407111.

Snails for Neighbours

Queensland now has a commercial snail producer. Cliff Wilson and Mary Wilson of Glass House Gourmet Snails raise these little beauties at Glasshouse Mountains. We cooked them up with garlic butter and tested them on neighbours Matt and Sonia Trau. The verdict was a big thumbs up!

Here's our neighbour Matt having a try of the snails! He liked them!

This is the lovely Sonia! She was so much braver than Cathy who did not want to try!

Fossisking columnist David Costello who writes for the Courier Mail has a try of the snails. The garlic and butter sure made them taste great!

Burleigh

Fosssicking columnist David Costello (my dear hubby) has gone down to the Gold Coast to visit a bone roaster who makes his own jus for meat sauces. Should be interesting! Here's a link to David's latest column in the Courier Mail. http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,25842085-5013516,00.html
What a beautiful day for a beautiful drive!

Morningside Treasures

Morningside Festival had some nice stalls. This was the Lourdes Hill rowing stall. A fair dinkum glomesh bag for $10 and a nice crocheted hand towel. Also my most expensive dishcloth ever - an enjo all prupose cloth for $30!

Barramundi

I had the barramundi! It was so nice.

Pasta Yum

Ria had the penne mastriciano(sorry spelling). It was yummy. Ria is so enjoying her long service leave!

Gusto Gianni restaurant with my two friends Robyn and Ria. Robyn had the Pizza Potat. It's nice and garlicky.
We saw Cheri the movie and I liked it. Ria and Robyn didn't like it because they are hard-working practical types who just wanted to boot some of the dissapated and shallow 'belle epoque' characters up the bum!

This has been my life's work working out this list!

Another Post

Wow! They're nice beans and scrambled eggs at Pearl Cafe! Check out the muffin in the background. Brisbane's best I think.

Gelato Gals

treattracker Danielle has a new job at an Israeli gelato shop in Brunswick St Fortitude Valley called Schlix(I think that's the spelling). She likes the place and says the lady works so hard and the kitchen is spotless. That's great!

It might make it into the Fossicking column.

Pearl Excitement

treattrackers Amy and Mark look really excited about going to Pearl Cafe for brekky with the girls!

Brownie Girl

treattracker Amy makes fabulous brownies all my herself!

The Veggie Man's cauliflower is going into treattracker's cauliflower soup for lunch on this cold winter day. Yum!

Tropicana Coffee

Cold Brisbane morning about 8 degrees! To the gym at 6am but after my workout I can have a treat at Tropicana cafe at Colmslie. A large beautiful coffee. Sorry about the slurp mark in the photo! Didn't notice that.

Veggie Purchase

What a way to start the weekend! All the fruit and veggie shopping done in one go - The Veggie Man brings his van to our carpark at work and we give him $35 and he gives us this amazing box. Everyone's happy.

Pearlie

Deja vu! Saturday morning again and meet the girls at Pearl cafe for Brekky.

The Herb Man

Bought these sun-hardened herbs and lettuce from Alan Spears at the Manly Sunday market. His plants are cheap ($2.50 each) and thrive when planted. He says not to separate seedlings. Will let you know how they grow in my broccoli boxes out the back. Using Searles fruit and veg mix potting mix.

Pearl Girls

Perfect start to the weekend. Breakky with Liz, Dan Dan and Amy at trendy Pearl Cafe at the Gabba. treattrackers like Pearl's cakes and tarts. They had chokky tarts with gold leaf this morning. And nice ladies with tattoos.

Hanoi Coffee

This treattracker likes a proper milk espresso at a french-like coffee place around the lake in Hanoi.

Hanoi Markets

We liked the sights, sounds and smells of the food markets in Hanoi. I think on the right are deep fried sparrows. Didn't try these.

Pumicestone Friends

treattrackers are just back from a great day and night at Caloundra. Saw our great friends Mike and Sue and had a fabulous fresh fish dinner from fish caught by Mike in Pumicestone Passage - lightly crumbed fillets of bream, tailor, and mullet with fab winter vegies prepared by Sue. Wow!
